Privacy Policy

Who we are

AllScorer is a free web app for scoring matches and running tournaments and leagues. This policy covers the AllScorer website and everything you do inside it. It is written in plain English on purpose. If something here is unclear, ask us and we will fix the wording.

What we collect

• Account details. If you create an account we store your email address and the name you give us, through Google Firebase Authentication. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, your name, and your profile picture from Google. We never see your password.
• Guest accounts. You can score a match without signing up. To make that work, every visitor gets an anonymous account id that is created automatically and stored in your browser. It is not tied to your identity, and it is what lets your matches follow you between visits on the same device.
• Content you enter. Matches, scores, tournaments, leagues, teams, rosters, and player names. Some of this is information about other people: if you run a tournament, you are the one entering participants' names. By entering them you confirm you have permission to publish those names and their scores on a public page.
• Device location. Only if you allow it, and only for finding nearby courts. We read your device's latitude and longitude and keep it in this browser's session storage, which your browser clears when you close the tab. It is never stored in our database: to list nearby courts, we ask our database for courts in your general area, not for your exact position. If you type an address instead, that address is sent to Mapbox so it can be turned into map coordinates.
• Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to see which pages and features get used. It sets cookies whose names begin with _ga. Google Analytics masks visitor IP addresses by default, and we never receive the full address. We also turn off advertising personalization and Google Signals, so your activity here is not used to build an ad profile. For visitors whose device is set to a European time zone, we switch analytics storage off by default, so no analytics cookies are set. Google still receives a basic, cookieless record of the page view.
• Abuse protection. Some actions, such as claiming a player profile, are checked by Google reCAPTCHA and Firebase App Check to confirm the request came from a real browser and not a script. Google receives the technical signals that check needs.
• Founder feedback. Messages you send through Write to the Founder, including up to five images you attach, together with your account id when you are signed in.
• Local storage. Match data and your preferences, which the app also stores in this browser's local storage so pages can load quickly.
• Tournament registration. When you sign up for a tournament, its organizer may ask for contact details such as an email address and a phone number, a shirt size, an emergency contact, your acceptance of a waiver, and answers to questions they wrote themselves — and, if you enter with a partner, the same details for them. Everything you enter on that form is stored apart from the public entry list and can be read only by you and by that tournament's organizers: not by other players, and not by anyone browsing the tournament. It is deleted when the organizer permanently deletes your entry, and it is deleted with the tournament when the tournament is deleted.

Why we use it

To run the product: to keep score, to save your matches and tournaments so you can come back to them, to show public scoreboards and standings, to let people find and follow events, and to keep your account secure. We use analytics to decide what to build and fix next. We do not use any of it to target advertising, and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers. We rely on a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf: Google Firebase and Google Cloud for hosting, sign-in, and the database; Google Analytics for usage measurement; and Mapbox for turning typed addresses into map coordinates. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people using the service.

Public by design

Scoring in public is the point of the product. Tournaments, spectator pages, leaderboards, standings, and player profiles are public: anyone with the link can see them, and search engines can index them. Assume that anything you enter as match or tournament content is visible to the world, including the names of the players you add. Do not put anything in there that you would not want published.

How long we keep it

• Account details and content. Kept until you delete them, or until you delete your account.
• Guest accounts. Kept while they are in use. We may purge anonymous accounts and their data after a long period of inactivity.
• Device location. Session only. Your browser discards it when the tab closes, and we never store it on our side.
• Analytics. Google Analytics event data is retained for 14 months, then deleted automatically.

Your rights and requests

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask for it in a portable form, and appeal if we turn a request down. Depending on where you live you may have these rights by law; we offer them to everyone either way. Send any of these requests through Write to the Founder (open the settings menu at the top of this page and choose it there) and tell us which one you want.

You do not need us for the most common one: you can delete your account, and the data attached to it, yourself from the settings section of your profile.

If your name appears in someone else's tournament and you want it taken down, use the same channel. You do not need an account to ask, and you do not need to go through the organizer.

Children

AllScorer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Youth events are often scored by an adult organizer, and it is that organizer who is responsible for having permission to publish a young player's name. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when what we collect or how we use it changes, and we will move the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, we will say so in the product rather than relying on you to re-read this page.
